How to send a package

We love it when you send packages to your missionary but there are a few things that you need to know before you do.  The mission has only two small vehicles with two authorized drivers - President & Hermana Chipman. Because of this, please DO NOT send large packages because we cannot fit them in our car to take them to the zones. Also, once the package is in an area of a zone, the zone leaders have to pack them onto crowded buses to get them out to their districts. If a package is overly heavy or big, it will need to stay in the mission office until the missionary can pick it up themselves and that can take months. Please use the options below. If you choose to use any other (like through etsy or Amazon, or another courier service) we cannot, nor will not make ourselves available for special deliveries or pick up. Please understand that we just don’t have the time or ability. Because of our situation, we kindly ask you to comply with the following rules:

Rules for sending packages:

  • Package sizes should be small.  Do not send a package more than 10 lbs or 4.5 kg.

  • Be mindful that many of our missionaries do not have much or any support from home. Because of this, you are invited to include items that can be shared with his/her companion, but keep it simple.  Overly indulgent packages often bring about anti-social behaviors that are similar to those seen on black Friday. We ask you to please be considerate and express your love through words rather than through extravagant packages.

  • Please do not call or write to the Mission office inquiring about your packages sent.

  • We will get the packages to the missionaries when it is convenient for us to do so.

  • Peru doesn’t allow the transport of medicines (prescriptions or over the counter).  They will confiscate the package.

  • Peru doesn’t allow the transport of used clothing.  Clothing needs to have tags and a receipt with them.  Clothes may be confiscated as well.

  • We will not use mission funds to ship packages inside the mission to make a specific deadline such as a holiday or birthday.  The geographic area of the mission is huge in size and our 130+ missionaries are spread far and wide.  It is just not possible.

  • Packages that come to the office will be distributed at zone conferences which are held once per transfer cycle (every 6-weeks).

  • Because we are in South America, we cannot guarantee the arrival of a package. Nothing is predictable here.

  • Please do not put breakables or perishables in the package.

  • We are not responsible for the delivery of the package, the damages to the package, or the theft of any contents contained in the package.

  • All packages sent through regular mail will need to be picked up from the post office even though they are addressed to the mission office. The office staff will make a trip every six weeks to pick these up all packages waiting at the post office and make them available for the missionaries at zone conferences. Any package that has extra fees can only be picked up by the missionary personally on their p-day. Those missionaries assigned to Arequipa can pick up their packages personally from the post office on their p-day and not need to wait until zone conference. Everyone assigned outside of Arequipa will need to wait until zone conference to receive their packages.

We have TWO OPTIONS for sending packages:
